Zucoin wallet app’s exported backup file is designed to not open with normal filesystem apps, by default, hence the “unsupported file type” message.

This is going to sound a bit odd, but the message after attempting to open the backup file is expected.

Zucoin wallet app’s exported backup file is designed to not open with normal filesystem apps, by default, hence the “unsupported file type” message.

This is done so apps like Google Docs, GDrive, Microsoft Word, etc, don’t attempt to automatically open the file.

Doing so would risk those apps formatting and editing the structured data in the backup file.

Zucoin is working on some ideas to make this process better (or more obvious, perhaps), and they have it on their list of todos.

Note: Some Android devices (such as Google Pixels), after downloading a file, immediately suggest that a user “opens” a recently saved file, which is can be annoying and is another area the Zucoin team is looking to work-around as part of this process.
