What do the caching nodes do?

Splitchain's caching nodes assist to keep the data that has been processed by peers, available to other peers on the network when they go offline.

E.g. When someone turns off their phone.

This ensures cryptographic proofs can be reliably found, preventing "uncertainty" scenarios that lead to issues such as double-spending the same amount twice.

For efficiency, the caches typically keep only the most recent transactions, so that the network can quickly find the most recent peer's state within the ledger.
