What happens if I lose my phone with my Zucoin stored in it?

If you lose the phone that had your Zucoin wallet on it, restore your wallet from a backup file on a replacement device.

The Zucoin wallet app is self-custody, so the backup file is the normal recovery path for your wallet data.

If you do not have a valid backup file, there is no normal central account login that can recreate the previous wallet for you.

How to recover access

1. Install the Zucoin wallet app on your replacement device.
   
   
2. Open the wallet settings and choose the restore option.
   
   
3. Select your latest valid wallet backup file.
   
   
4. Complete the restore process and let the wallet sync available transaction state.
   
   
5. If you use Zutopia, reconnect or re-verify your wallet there after the restore.
   
   

If the phone may be stolen

If you think someone else may have access to the unlocked device, treat the situation as urgent.

Restore from your backup on a safe device, then consider creating a new wallet and transferring your balance to that new wallet if you believe the old device or old wallet data may be exposed.
