A major difference between Splitchain and common blockchains is the absence of "blocks" in Splitchain.
Unlike blockchain, where transactions are grouped into blocks and processed by miners, Splitchain caches cryptographic transaction results in parallel.
Each transaction is stored in a split and fragmented index within peer wallets and temporarily cached by network nodes, in parallel, without the need for blocks.
Typically, only the latest settled transaction is cached across the Splitchain network, ensuring peer discoverability and network efficiency.
Transaction validation in Zucoin wallets is done by reliably finding and checking the cryptographic proofs of peers cached on Splitchain.
Blockchains also require an ongoing collection of all transactions since the beginning of the systems start point. This makes this heavy, slow, cumbersome with increasing ongoing costs.
With Splitchain, for regulatory compliance, nodes can opt-in to keep a copy of the ledger's history, but this is not required by default.
