What's Inside Zucoin's v187 Release Of The Zucoin Wallet App?

A wave of new capabilities has been loaded into “transfer codes”, available now to Zucoin wallet app users on v187.

When news broke of the last v186 app release, we mentioned "it’s the first release of a much larger rollout that will be happening over the coming weeks."

This update completes the phase 2 expansion of the transfer code ability in the Zucoin wallet app.

Allowing third-party platforms to customize transactions is an important area of expansion, and the Zucoin wallet app now supports this better than ever.

For example, external systems can now provide customizable, temporary messages before the start of a transaction.

This feature can be used to provide instructions or extra details about the transaction before it begins.

Of course, the first natural use case for this will be the Zutopia marketplace, but this feature is open to any individual or company who wants to use this and is available, starting now, to integrate with various third party apps and systems.

Customisable transfer codes also make it easier for retailers and merchants to create a transaction.

Instead of having to type in specific amounts to send, a retailer could craft a transfer code to the exact cost of items purchased.

A sender's transaction is then automatically created, containing a message about the transaction.

All you have to do is accept and send it to the right recipient.

Are There More "Transfer Code" Enhancements To Come?

Yes.

Phase 1 expansion of transfer codes was first rolled out in the v186 release of the Zucoin wallet app.

This Zucoin wallet app v187 release is the phase 2 expansion of this feature.

Phase 3 expansion is underway and will, for the most part, apply these changes to other systems, such as bulk transfer systems.

Keep your eyes peeled, as there may be another update to the Zucoin wallet app with compatibility changes for this.

As always, the rollout of phase 3 is expected to be smooth.

For the scorecard keepers, 56 areas of the Zucoin wallet app were changed in this update, resulting in 728 software code additions and 1403 deletions.

Note: The Zucoin product team constantly reviews incoming demands, suggestions, and areas requiring improvement.

There could be more refinements to this as the Zucoin team gets more feedback, now that this capability is out in the wild.

What Are Zucoin Wallet Transfer Codes?

Transfer codes are the jibberish-looking chunk of text that a sender will give to a receiver, when starting a transaction.

As a refresher, transfer codes look like this:

Transfer codes are designed to help two people form and confirm a transaction among themselves, automatically.

Behind the scenes, transfer codes provide instructions and cryptographic credentials so that each person's Zucoin wallet app can communicate and confirm the transfer of Zucoin tokens.

Are Transfer Codes The Same As Smart Assets or Smart Contracts?

No.

Smart assets and smart contracts are contained within a transaction.

Think of transfer codes as a wrapper outside of a transaction.

Transfer codes coordinate the formation of a transaction.

As such, details such as custom messages within a transfer code don't get passed onto the Splitchain network.

The upside is, it keeps the Splitchain network leaner and faster, as less cached information is stored by Splitchain's network nodes.

Transfer codes are an early, foundational pre-cursor to Smart Assets, which will have even more functionality.

The first integration is being done with the Zutopia marketplace, as this is the first use case for this powerful capability.

It has also formed the basis for public technical documentation that other web developers will be able to use when integrating Zucoin into other systems.

The full technical and integration breakdown, with example code, is being continually refined so that other web developers can begin to experiment and explore this feature.
